4Four Associates was founded by Matthew Jeffreys, a former McLaren design engineer (1984 - 2005) and independent engineering consultant (2005 - date). With a 38-year career involved in mechanical design engineering, composites design, project management and business development, and after working in diverse industry sectors including automotive, aerospace, motorsport, energy, marine and defence, Matthew now offers multiple engineering services to wide-ranging industry applications, either as an individual or part of the associates consultancy team.

Though 4Four Associates has its roots in F1, many other industry sectors have benefited from its founder's experience, capabilities and services. Since leaving McLaren, Matthew has worked with numerous clients on projects and assignments including: aero engine composite structures; aerospace composite structures; security sensitive defence projects - including large-scale composite structures for submarines; wind turbine blade manufacturing project management; business development for automotive driving simulator applications; sports equipment design; road-car concept designs; automotive CAE and PLM applications and novel composites projects including a transformable shoe!

An F1 environment provides a tough but ideal proving ground for introducing new technology and engineering procedures, as the process for producing a Grand Prix car encompasses the whole product development and lifecycle from concept to end user; i.e. the creators, manufacturers and customers (the race engineers and drivers) are all housed under one roof! Processes and technology are tested to the extreme as rapid development programmes and large configuration variants have to meet immovable target dates: the races themselves.

Through 4Four Associates, this knowledge and these skillsets are now being deployed to other industries and sectors with clients engaging with us either as individuals or in teams.
